Refill Kits ~ Hewlett Packard Inkjet Cartridges

If an Hewlett Packard inkjet cartridge is left empty for more than 10 minutes, the ink (either original, re-manufactured, compatible or re-filled) will dry and clog the tiny micro holes at the outlet of the print head. Once refilled, this will show itself as streaked or banded printed output. DO NOT attempt to refill old empty cartridges that you have had for a few days or longer. It won't work after it is refilled. Refill cartridges that go empty IMMEDIATELY or not at all.

If you do a lot of printing, keep your printer topped up. By knowing approximately how many pages your full cartridge can print you can top up the cartridge when it is still ¼ full thereby preventing any drying out ~ doing this process will greatly extend the number of times that you can refill a cartridge . The bottom line is DO NOT let the cartridge totally run out or there will be problems.

All Hewlett Packard inkjet cartridges have the print head built into the cartridge. When these cartridges are empty the ink trapped in the micro jets is exposed to air from the inside and the outside. The ink begins to dry both ways and when dry, forms a scab of solid material in the micro jet. When clogged, the ink will not flow out the jet. What you see on the paper is skipping, banding or no print at all. If you fill a clogged cartridge, the new ink will NOT unclog the head. So how can you unclog a cartridge?

EITHER

A. Hold the printhead under a stream of hot water for about 10 seconds - dry with a soft cloth - reinstall in printer and print the printer test page 3-4 times.

B. If that doesn't dissolve the clog. Fill a saucer/small dish with half hot water and half ammonia - place the cartridge in the solution for about 2 hours ~ dry with a soft dry cloth ~ reinstall the cartridge in printer and print the printer test page 3-4 times.

If neither approach works then the cartridge is probably DEAD and you will need to go to CLICK HERE NOW and buy a new cartridge.
